The school year has once again flown by.  It's hard to believe that Cedar Ridge Elementary has been open for four years.  We certainly have accomplished a great deal in the past four years.

Each year that Cedar Ridge has been open, we have achieved a rating of "High Performing" from the State of Colorado.  I believe that this has been accomplished because of the dedication of our parents and staff to provide a quality education of our children.

In the never ending need to do all we can to keep our children safe, the Cedar Ridge PTO purchased a magnetic door lock for our front doors.  We sincerely appreciate our parents and visitors respecting the need for a safe and secure school environment.

Three years ago, it came to the attention of Tracie Skoglund, CRE 2nd grade teacher, that CRE could have the opportunity to have a Promethean Board installed in our school.  We made the decision to have the board installed in Tracie's classroom.  since that time, we have installed three more boards.  Now for the good news!  From the example set by CRE three years ago, has grown the fantastic opportunity for every elementary classroom in District 70 to have a Promethean Board!  I am very proud that CRE was on the forefront of bringing this technology to District 70.

Last week the docents of Sangre de Cristo Arts Center specifically recognized the wonderful behavior of our third grade students while they att3nded a performance at the art center.

I could go on and on about the highly visible positives.  Perhaps the greatest positives are those that are "just there" each day.  As I walk around the school, I am constantly impressed with the learning that goes on in each classroom.  Everyday I have at least one conversation with a teacher or staff member about the learning needs of a specific child.  This staff is constantly in the mode of providing the best possible education for each child.

I invite you to honor your child's teacher or a staff member with which you are impressed during the week of May 5th.  This week has nationally been designated as Teacher Appreciation Week; however, at CRE we believe that it is the entire staff that deserves appreciation for the fine job they do in educating our children.  A simple card of appreciation always does wonders for those who work so hard to educate our children.

Finally, I want you to know how much we appreciate parents and their support of this school.

We hope you have a restful and fun filled summer with your children.
